The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Kaja Shukova and the representatives of all six registered collective waste handlers in our country, today held a consultative meeting for harmonization and better coordination of joint activities in waste management. Minister Shukova informed the attendees about the intensification of the activities for the establishment of regional waste management systems, about the need for more intense additional involvement of the collective actors in providing the necessary equipment – vehicles and containers for waste selection, but also in the development of the positive habits of the citizens for proper handling of waste as an important prerequisite for the successful functioning of the system.
The representatives of the collective waste handlers presented their annual programs and informed about the problems they face in relation to the implementation of the legislation and depending on the level of development of the local environments.
The meeting also discussed the need for coordination with other actors, which are an important link in establishing a sustainable waste management. Another meeting was agreed at the end of May, to which representatives of the Community of local self-government units, ADKOM and the State Environmental Inspectorate will be invited.
