Representatives of the company Ekocenter 97 who met today with the Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Naser Nuredini and the MOEPP professional team informed about the activities for safe removal of the chemicals from the locations and the productive persecution from AD OHIS SKOPJE.
Respectively, until 2nd March 2020, three out of five planned exports of hazardous waste packaged in appropriate international transport packaging were realized. Until now have been removed around 55 of 80 tons of hazardous waste, which has already taken off and transported to Valorek Services AG Basel, a Swiss incinerator where it will be safely disposed of. The remaining quantities of the chemicals are safely packaged in appropriate packaging and are expected to be successfully transported and disposed of within the next two weeks.
According to the obligations, the company Ekocenter 97 informed that it is in the process of preparing the last activity – safe repackaging and dislocation of the Vinyl Chloride Monomer chemical for which have already been signed contracts with subcontractors who have many years of experience and specialize in converting this type of hazardous waste. At the meeting, the company has announced a post extension of the given deadline for the removal of this chemical due to the complexity of the operation and the need to purchase additional equipment aimed at ensuring maximum safety for the repackaging process.
