The Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Hristina Odzaklieska, had a welcoming speech at the panel discussion organized within the framework of the project “Computing Power Goes Green” which is realized within the framework of the “Interreg” project, co-financed by the EU through the cross-border cooperation program “Balkan-Mediterranean” for the period 2014-2020.
Today’s event was divided into two panel discussion: “Computing Power Goes Green” and “Challenges for the application of green digitalization in the private and social sector”, in which several experts from the country and the region shared their experiences, views and visions about the digital transformation of the public and private sectors and their environmental/energy footprint.
In her speech, Odzaklieska mentioned that the digitalization of data on environmental conditions is extremely important and emphasized that we must follow the rapid changes in the digital world and adapt to them. In this way, access to information related to the quality of the environment is made simpler and easily accessible to citizens. On the other hand, for us as an institution, it is a good basis for creating policies and measures to deal with pollution. With digitalization, data transfer is easily carried out not only in the country, but also regionally and globally.
At the opening of the event, the Minister of Local Self-Government, Risto Penov, the Minister of Information Society and Administration, Azir Aliu and the Director of the Bureau for Regional Development, Ramiz Redzepi, Deputy Head of the Mission of the Republic of Italy in our country, Mario De Rosa, and the Program Manager at the Delegation of the European Union, Karl Giacinti also had their speeches.
The main goal of the project “Computing Power Goes Green” is to promote the adoption of an integrated approach and the creation of a framework for the implementation of combined “green” and digital transformation initiatives at the national and transnational level, which will lead to a “greener” functioning of digital infrastructures using data centers.
The project is co-financed by the European Union and the participating countries, and from 2021 it is implemented by the Bureau for Regional Development in Skopje, in cooperation with the Region of Western Macedonia – Greece, Technical Chamber of Greece, Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Greece, Energy Agency – Greece, National Agency of Information Society – Albania, Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, University of Forestry – Bulgaria, and is financially supported by the Balkan Med Programme.
