Minister Shukova, together with Minister Trencevska, the UN Resident Coordinator Office Dudziak and the head of the Office of the International Organization for Migration, Bozinovska Petrushevska, marked the International Migrants Day.
“Climate changes affects us all, to varying degrees, but where impacts are already a daily reality for communities, assessing vulnerability, designing and taking adaptation measures, building smart resilience solutions and securing predictable resources are key to strengthening people’s resilience to climate change and avoiding displacement.
On the other hand, adaptation measures should include and facilitate safe, regular and orderly migration to protect people, livelihoods and ecosystems as our common responsibility”, Minister Shukova emphasized in her welcoming address, referring to climate change as a rapidly growing driver of human mobility.
At the same time, Shukova emphasized that building the resilience of the country, as well as of its citizens vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, is a common priority and the created climate policies include specific inclusive measures that support the processes of a just transition and facilitate access to sustainable and predictable finances to everyone, especially the most vulnerable categories.
