The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Kaja Shukova participated in the public debate on the Draft – Text of the National Youth Strategy 2023-2027, which took place today in Skopje. The discussion was organized as the final event of the process for the preparation of the new five-year National Strategy for Youth, before its adoption by the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The National Youth Strategy targets all young people aged 15 to 29, and covers eight thematic areas: youth participation, youth information, youth work, education, culture, health, entrepreneurship and pre-employment support ant security. It also deals with more interdisciplinary topics such as: gender, environment, digitalization and non-discrimination. It sets all the basic principles and guidelines for the action of all actors in society that lead to the improvement of the socio-economic condition of young people and the environment which they live, as well as to the creation of conditions that will enable young people to realize their rights, needs and interests.
The event is organized by the Agency for Youth and Sport, and welcoming speeches were given by the director of the Agency Naumce Mojsovski, the Deputy Prime Minister in charge for economic issues, coordination of economic departments and investments Fatmir Bitiqi, the Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, Kilian Wahl, the UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of North Macedonia, Armen Grigoryan and the UNFPA Head of Office, Afrodita Shalja.
The process of creating the new National Youth Strategy 2023-2027 is within the regional project “Youth 4 Inclusion, Equality & Trust”, financed by the UN Peacebuilding Fund implemented by UNDP, UNFPA, UNESCO and UN Women, and with the support of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
