I. GOAL
The International Photo Contest is organized to raise public awareness on climate change and ozone layer protection issues, and to promote careful attitude towards the environment around the world.
II. ORGANIZERS AND PARTNERS
Organizers: State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Ecology and Environmental Protection; Center of Hydrometeorological Service under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan; United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan; Joint Project of UNDP in Uzbekistan, Center for Hydrometeorological Service under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UN Environment “Green Climate Fund Readiness Programme in Uzbekistan”; Joint Project of UNDP in Uzbekistan, State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Ecology and Environmental Protection and the Global Environment Facility “Initial Implementation of Accelerated Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFC) Phase Out in the Countries with Economies in Transition (CEIT) – Uzbekistan”.
Partners: United Nations Development Programme Istanbul Regional Hub; OzonAction Branch of UN Environment.
III. PARTICIPANTS
The International Photo Contest is open for all professional and amateur photographers around the world. Participation of women and youth is encouraged.
IV. CATEGORIES
The International Photo Contest is held in two categories:
1. “Climate change in my eyes”
2. “Ozone layer and I”.
V. RULES
Each participant can submit by 1 photo for each category of the International Photo Contest.
The photos in the category of “Climate change in my eyes” may be the ones, which:
· Demonstrate the signs of the climate change;
· Show adaptation measures to climate change;
· Indicate the measures aimed at climate change mitigation, etc.
The Photos in the category of “Ozone layer and I” may be the ones, which:
· Show the impact of the ozone layer on life in the world;
· Demonstrate measures aimed at protection of ozone layer, etc.
Creative approach in uncovering the themes in each of these categories is welcomed.
Each photo must be accompanied by duly completed application form in English language and meet the requirements, set in “Requirements for Photos” and “Other Requirements” sections of the application form. The application form can be downloaded from the website of International Photo Contest – http://www.envcontest.uz.
The photos and application forms in English language should be sent to info@envcontest.uzuntil 18:00 (Tashkent time, GMT+5), August 15, 2017.
VI. TRANSFER OF COPYRIGHTS
The participant, who sends his/her photo to the International Photo Contest, agrees to transfer copyrights for distribution, duplication, copying, publication and usage of his/her photo by the organizers and partners of the International Photo Contest. The organizers and partners, on their side, commit themselves to indicate the author of the photo in their publications.
VII. ORDER OF EVALUATION AND SELECTION OF WINNERS
Evaluation and selection of winners of the International Photo Contest will be carried out in 2 or 3 stages, depending on the number of the photos received.
Stage I. Preliminary selection of photos | If the total number of the photos received exceeds 100, then preliminary selection stage will be organized with involvement of specially invited experts from different countries. The experts will select 100 photos (by 50 in each category). |
Stage II. Online Voting | Online voting will be launched on the website http://www.envcontest.uz to identify 20 photos (by 10 in each category) from among 100, in two categories, which gathered the highest number of votes.
Online voting will be open for everyone, regardless of the country of permanent or temporary residence. Each visitor of the website will be able to vote only once for a favorite photo in each of two categories. |
Stage III. Evaluation by the Jury Team and Selection of Winners | 20 photos, which received the most votes as a result of online voting, will be evaluated by the Jury Team, consisting of organizers, experts and partners, representing different countries, to determine the winners in two categories. |
VIII. PHOTO EXHIBITION AND ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNERS
20 photos, which passed to the third stage (i.e. Evaluation by the Jury Team)á will be exhibited during the photo exhibition to be held in Tashkent on September 11 2017. Thesephotos will also be exhibited online on the website http://www.envcontest.uz. The winners of the International Photo Contest will be announced during the opening of the photo exhibition, and on the website of the International Photo Contest.
The information concerning the exact venue of the photo exhibition will be available on the website http://www.envcontest.uz beginning from September 1, 2017.
IX. PRIZES AND CERTIFICATES
There will be 6 winners of the International Photo Contest, who will receive prizes by the organizers.
Prizes for the first category – “Climate change in my eyes”:
First place – photo camera;
Second place – tablet pc;
Third place – mobile phone.
Prizes for the second category – “Ozone layer and I”:
First place – photo camera;
Second place – tablet pc;
Third place – mobile phone.
Additionally, one winner in the special nomination “Women and Ozone Layer” will receive prize prepared by the Istanbul Regional Hub of United Nations Development Programme.
Authors of 20 best photos will receive certificates by organizers.
