(13.09.2019) Today, the Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Jani Makraduli in Warsaw, Poland attended a conference on “Coal Regions in Transition and the Energy Community “ organized by the European Energy Community and the Polish Presidency ofCOP24.
The Deputy Minister underlined the commitment of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia to be a leader in energy transition with investments in renewable sources and complete gasification of the country.
He further emphasized that the fight to reduce air pollution is a key driver in the energy transition as the investments in the implementation of the Clean Air Plan contribute to increased energy efficiency, reduced energy needs and the replacement of non-environmental sources of warming.
Concerning the implementation of the „Just transition “chapter of the Paris Agreement, the Deputy Minister outlined the policy of massive investments in photovoltaics especially in places where in the past there were coal mines such as the mines around TPP Oslomej.
