The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Kaja Shukova, and the Minister Ljupco Nikolov held a working meeting with the President of the Association of Biogas Plants, Nikola Derevanov, the representatives of the IME project of the Swiss Embassy and the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of Macedonia, who were interested in the legal obligations for the management of industrial organic waste in the country.
Minister Shukova informed that this issue is clearly regulated in the legislation and that it is the obligation of the industry to manage industrial waste appropriately.
At the same time, the representatives of the Association presented their thoughts that this type of waste, which is currently a serious threat to the environment, because it is not managed according to the law, can be a useful raw material with great potential for obtaining energy.
For that reason, its use represents exceptional opportunities for multiple benefits for all stakeholders, and at the same time, greenhouse gas emissions are reduced, which affects the reduction of climate change.
