The Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Hristina Odzaklieska, today opened the annual meeting of the Coalition for Climate and Civil Organizations that work in the field of environmental protection and climate change.
She presented the key priorities and goals of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning in the area and the next planned steps, noting that the MOEPP has achieved good cooperation with the civil sector in the area of environmental protection and the development of climate policies and measures.
– In the area of climate change, as a state and as a Ministry, we have been working for a number of years. We were also present at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC, and the message we sent from there is that all countries, even small ones, should have their own part. Being ambitious is a challenge, but we saw it and still see it as an opportunity that is beneficial for our people and our economy – said Deputy Minister Odzaklieska, adding that we show through our own example that having a vision and ambitious long-term and medium-term goals are achievable with joint and partnership action.
At the meeting, the previous work of civil society organizations from the environmental protection and climate change sectors was summarized and the building of sustainable partnerships with local and national authorities and other relevant stakeholders was discussed.
The members of the coalition were informed about the policies and laws in the climate sector, as well as about the sectoral reforms that the state is implementing in the area of climate change.
The annual meeting is organized by the Environmental Research and Information Center Eco-Awareness, in cooperation with the Macedonian Association of Young Lawyers, the Macedonian Green Center and the Organization for Connecting Natural Values and People, and is supported by the Swedish Government.
