The international community has finalized long-term negotiations for the adoption of a new international instrument for the management of chemicals throughout their life cycle.
Within the high-level segment, the conference presented the high-level declaration by which countries around the world agreed that chemicals and their waste pose a serious threat to human health and the environment, but also play a key role in pollution that is one of the three defined planetary crises (climate change, threatened biodiversity and pollution).
Pursuing its long-term goals and ambitions in the field of environmental protection and safe management of chemicals, the Republic of North Macedonia is an active participant in these global negotiations and is an equal member of international agreements and conventions dealing with the management of chemicals and their waste.
As a candidate country for membership in the European Union, the Republic of North Macedonia is committed to the processes of harmonizing the national legislation with the European Chemicals Regulation.
Through collaborative efforts and the exchange of expertise, the conference strives to establish a framework that promotes chemical safety, protects ecosystems, and improves human well-being. This event marks a collective commitment to foster a safer and more sustainable future for all, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in the effective management of chemicals.
