Granted awards for the best photographs at the photo-competition #ActNow and best stories at the completion for media Fight against Climate Change

10(20.11.2015) Today, the Minister of Environment and Physical PlanningNurhan Izairi, the Ambassador of the Republic of France in the Republic of MacedoniaLaurence Auer and UNDP Resident Representative Luisa Vinton granted officially the awards to the 20 best competitors of the first photo competition on climate change in the country #ActNow, as well as two journalists for stories on “Fight against Climate Change”.

Bicycles and photo-cameras were granted to the first best ranked photographs in each of the ten categories. Winners were selected on the basis of likes gathered on Facebook (50%) and votes of international jury (50%).

Photo competition #ActNowwas public call to all citizens, activists, funs and supporters of nature and healthy environment to employ their photo-taking skills to take photos of climate change effects in any of the ten offered categories: Climate change and water, Climate change and health, Climate change and tourism, Climate change and transport, Climate change and cultural heritage, Climate change and forests, Climate change and agriculture, Climate change and natural disasters, Climate change and biodiversity and Climate change andrenewable energy sources.

This photo competition was organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), French Embassy in Skopje and Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning in order to promote the awareness of climate change effects.

Competition for media on Fight against climate change was opened for competition in two categories – television and printed and electronic media. International jury selected one best journalist story published between 1 January and 31 October 2015 in both categories and French Embassy will cover study visit to France for the winners.
