The Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Hristina Odzaklieska, had a working meeting with Professor Trajce Stafilov from the Institute of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, with whom they discussed the state of the environment in our country, with special reference to historical pollution from former industrial giants, which we inherited as hot spots and for the clearing of which large financial resources are needed.
At the event, Stafilov presented the Geochemical Atlas of Soils in the Republic of North Macedonia.
He clarified that the Atlas, which contains the basic geochemical characteristics of soils from the entire territory of the state, will help all those who have an interest in sustainable soil use, but also in the fight against heavy metal pollution in certain areas of our state.
According to Deputy Minister Odzaklieska, scientific research is the basis for creating sustainable policies in the process of dealing with environmental pollution in the direction of protecting people’s health.
