The Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Hristina Odzaklieska participated in the event “Country Support to Advance One-Health Responses Against Antimicrobial Resistance in Western Balkans”, organized by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and prepared with financial support from the European Union, with the Ministry of Health as the leading institution from the Republic of North Macedonia.
– As part of the One-Health chain, which should act jointly in the direction of dealing with antimicrobial resistance, as an institution that is included in the multisectoral commission for the control of antimicrobial resistance in the country by the Ministry of Health, I expect to actively contribute to the drafting of the national strategy and action plan – emphasized Deputy Minister Odzaklieska in her speech.
According to her, in order to limit the emergence and spread of resistant microorganisms, it is necessary to control and monitor pollutants that contribute to the development of antimicrobial resistance, monitor their impact on ecosystems, support an innovative approach in determining the interactions between microorganisms, plants, humans and nature, investment in staff and financial support for the realization of activities in this area.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Fatmir Medziti and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Ljupco Nikolovski addressed the event.
