The Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Hristina Odzaklieska participated in the meeting on the implementation of the decisions from the economic and ecological dimension for 2023 of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe – OSCE in the field of environment and security.
In the opening address of the session dedicated to the review of the implementation of the OSCE obligations, Odzaklieska emphasized that in our country the OSCE has promoted efficient tools for sustainable development and actively supports the implementation of several multilateral environmental agreements, such as the Aarhus Convention, the Espoo Convention, the Protocol for strategic assessment of the environment and others.
All these activities have a significant impact on the achievement of sustainable development goals, especially those related to environmental protection, water resources management, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, as well as in raising public awareness of environmental issues and in the realization of environmental rights by supporting the establishment and functioning of the Aarhus Center in Skopje.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking representatives from the OSCE participating countries, responsible for international economic and environmental policy, representatives from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE Cooperation Partners, and among other things, the promotion of good governance and the fight against corruption in the field of the environment were also discussed, as well as the strengthening of cooperation in dealing with threats to the environment.
