The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Kaja Shukova had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in our country, H.E. Veronique Hullmann Marti.
They discussed the ways to overcome the challenges during the implementation of the current projects, and the results and functionality of the completed projects were also considered.
Ambassador Hullmann emphasized at the meeting that the support from the Swiss government is aimed, among other things, at infrastructure and the environment, specifically at nature protection, wastewater treatment and solid waste management.
She also expressed support and satisfaction for the long-term approach to finding appropriate solutions in meeting EU criteria in the field of environment. Namely, she pointed out as the main challenges the capacity building of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning and the implementation and enforcement of laws.
Minister Shukova expressed respect and gratitude for the support that the Swiss government provides for improving the overall protection of the environment, as one of the largest donors in this area, and informed the ambassador about the long-term goals of the ministry, as well as about the planned reform measures in this department.
