The waste that surrounds us is our product. We, humans, have created it and left it behind. Today, we joined the spring action “GENERALKA WEEKEND” on the grounds of the dumpsite near Jazhince in the municipality of Jegunovce.
Let us restore the splendor of nature by cleaning waste. This already traditional action brings us together, shows the power of togetherness, and gives us the opportunity to turn waste into a green future. “GENERALKA WEEKEND” is an action that the Ministry has been supporting since the first year when only 10 municipalities and 1000 volunteers were involved. This year, the number of municipalities is 53, and the number of registered volunteers is more than 16,000.
As a result of fruitful cooperation between “Man and Mountain”, “Brewery Skopje”, “Pakomak”, “Zero Waste”, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, representatives of the diplomatic corps, local governments, 400 schools, local supporters and sports clubs, this action is the most massive and inclusive action to clean up waste in the territory of the entire country.
Planting a tree sapling for every 10 kilograms of collected waste, the action enables “planting waste in a green future” and is an extraordinary way to demonstrate the power of community and coordinated work in the interest of the environment and the quality of life of current and future generations.
