Deputy Minister Christina Odzaklieska today, in the premises of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, held a working meeting with the Assistant Minister for Inspection Supervision of the Republic of Serbia, Dejan Furjanovic, and the Director of the State Environmental Inspectorate of RNM Sreten Stojkovski. The meeting discussed the transposition of European legislation in the two countries in the preservation and improvement of the environmental situation, specifically in the area of inspection, and reviewed the current situation and the challenges faced by the environmental inspectorates in the two neighboring countries, in the preservation and improvement of the environment.
Both sides agreed that there is a need for closer cooperation and coordination between the State Environmental Inspectorates of the two countries, for preventive action and a timely and appropriate response to the challenges faced by the competent institutions in North Macedonia and Serbia in the preservation of the environment, and in the prevention and control of pollution, in the interest of the citizens on both sides of the border.
The State Environmental Inspectorate in the period from May 9 -11 in Skopje hosted a working meeting with 5 experts from Italy, the Netherlands, and Serbia within the Project of the European Network of Environmental Inspectorates IMPEL National Peer Review Initiative NPRI which will help the Macedonian and Serbian environmental inspectorate for more efficient implementation of environmental legislation, and a bilateral meeting was also held between the Macedonian and Serbian environmental inspectorate to deepen cooperation.
