Minister Nuredini held a virtual meeting with Mauro Petriccione, Director General of the European Commission’s Climate Directorate, to discuss the state’s progress in developing climate policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the need for a fair transition to clean energy and a general improvement of the environment, which in the long-term plan means less overall costs and more green jobs.
Minister Nuredini held a virtual meeting with Mauro Petriccione, Director General of the Climate Directorate of the European Commission.
At the meeting, Minister Nuredini informed about the steps taken by the MoEPP to harmonize its legal and strategic framework, as well as the status of implementation of the recommendations by the EU in the field of climate change.
Director General Petriccione expressed the readiness of the Directorate, within its capacities, to help in finalizing the final national legal solution and the strategic framework for climate action.
Minister Nuredini also shared information on the progress of the governmental procedure for the adoption of the Third Biennial Update Report on Climate Change and the enhanced nationally determined contribution to the Paris Agreement, as two very important documents for setting the country’s decarbonization pathway.
Recognizing the activity of the Government and the MoEPP in this area, Director General Petriccione praised the Republic of North Macedonia as a positive example in the region in creating and implementing green growth and development policies.
