Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Naser Nuredini attended and addressed on the promotional event marking the registration of the Albanian part of Lake Ohrid as natural and cultural world heritage of UNESCO, held yesterday afternoon in Pogradec, Albania.
– I am very happy that in 1979 UNESCO recognized the importance of Ohrid Lake and since than it has helped us protect it, and what makes me especially pleased is that now in 2019 we are sharing this honor with our neighbors in Albania. Only by working together we can ensure this special area to receive the protection and attention deserves – said Minister Nuredini.
Convinced that by working together on such projects for managing with shared environmental resources we can achieve a lot, Nuredini emphasized that with this cooperation we are becoming closer as neighbors as well as recognizing our similarities and the magnitude of the benefits of working in partnership.
Minister Nuredini during this event publicly thanked all the donors who helped preserve this shared natural heritage including the European Union (EU), Global Environment Facility (GEF), UN Environment Program (UNEP), KfW Bank, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Ohrid Prespa Nature Trust (PONT) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), as well as all other donors present in the region.[su_custom_gallery source=”media: 18009,18010,18011,18012,18013,18014″ limit=”10″ link=”image” target=”blank” title=”never”
The event was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Albania.
