The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of the Republic of Macedonia will mark this year’s World Water Day (22 March) with a Conference. Its main objective is raising awareness about the importance of sustainable way of exploiting water as a valuable resource, reducing and reusing the waste water and making the water cycle work better for every living thing. The conference is also organized in the eve of a comprehensive water sector reform which will be undertaken next years in the country.
The audience will be addressed by several key note speakers on the following topics:
- Interdependence between water and waste water in the quest for sustainable development,
- The EU support for improved water management and construction of waste water treatment facilities in the country,
- Economic regulation – new approach for setting water services tariffs
- Waste Water Treatment – challenges and lessons learned
- A way towards establishing water services cost-recovery system
- State of play and perspectives for public utility companies organizational and financial restructuring
- Improved water sector investment planning as precondition for mobilization of resources
Conference agenda envisages a Panel Discussion and motivational speeches “H2O Why we care” by two regional celebrities.
